PREVIOUSLY ON 50 FIRST DATES AT 50

“I walked her back to her car, and she offered to give me a lift back to my house…”

AND NOW, THE EXCITING CONCLUSION

When she offered me a lift, I respectfully declined. I recall having some errand to do – shopping or something. So, I let this attractive woman, who seemed into me, drive away without me. I already had a second date in my back pocket, so I wasn’t too worried. Looking back, this might have been a mistake.

The next day, FirstDate54 messaged me. She thanked me for dinner, but she said that she didn’t think there was any chemistry between us. Fuck me. I totally blew this. Even if that was the inevitable conclusion to our extremely short relationship, I could have gotten a nice hug, maybe a kiss, and maybe she would have realized that we had excellent chemistry together. Instead of possibly making out, I most likely bought milk, frozen pizzas and pet food.

What a way to end 2021. As hard as the first two years of living and dating in a new country were, COVID and my own stupidity had made 2020 and 2021 ridiculously difficult. Needless to say, my Christmas spirit was at an all-time low.
